Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She is an American Mexican actor. She sings as well. Her family was home-schooled by her mother, in the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist remarks and being made to feel unwelcome. She began to gain confidence during the 9th grade, when she entered a school audition. She was praised by the judges for her vocal ability. It not only boosted her confidence but was also a change in the direction of her career. In 1992, she earned her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. Her professional career began when she was 23 years old, appearing in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and the film You've Got Mail. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot She played the Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as the praise of critics. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC her role was given greater recognition.
